It was a Monday morning in early October 2015. It wasn’t any ordinary Monday though, it was the Monday of our first family holiday together and we were all so excited. (Well, me and my partner were excited, Freddie was only 6 months at the time so didn’t give two biscuits).
We practically sprinted out of our front door with our suitcases (it had been a long time since we’d had a break!) and off we went. We were travelling to Longleat from Plymouth and it was quite a journey so we made several pit stops to allow us to eat and go to the toilet.
Just as we arrived to our destination it started hammering it down with rain, but this didn’t stop our excitement! As we drove into Longleat forest we were delighted by the beautiful scenery surrounding us. We were greeted by a lovely woman who took our details and gave us our keys and breakfast passes and gave us directions to our apartment. (We still managed to get lost though and it took us roughly 25 minutes to find it!)

Finally, we found our new home for the week and we began to unpack. We were pleasantly surprised when we unlocked our new front door. It appeared that we were greeted with a luxury two story apartment. There was a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates waiting for us, a beautiful balcony overlooking the trees, a heat therapy room and a jacuzzi style bath. We were so happy to say the least.
By the time we had settled in and had a look around it was nearly tea-time. We decided to treat ourselves and order from the takeaway which was only 2 minutes away from our apartment! We were really happy with their broad menu, it was like an all-in-one takeaway and had everything from pizza to curries.
When we collected our tea, we were again very happy with the customer service.
The next morning we headed to The Sports Cafe to make good use of our breakfast vouchers. This cafe was lovely and spacious and very family friendly. After that we decided to hire bikes out for the week. I highly recommend this! They supplied us with locks so we could travel easily all over the forest and park our bikes safely. We especially loved how they accommodated for babies too, if it wasn’t for their trailers then we wouldn’t have been able to hire the bikes out.
In the afternoon we decided to check out the swimming pool. Oh my gosh, it was amazing. There was an indoors swimming pool with a wave machine and a mini rapid to take your kiddies in, this was fun! They also had a few water slides which we thoroughly enjoyed! Me and my partner took it in turns to go down them as obviously Freddie was too small. We then decided to check out the outdoors pool and it was so cool. There was a big rapid for adults and older children to enjoy. It started raining whilst we were in the pool but it didn’t matter as it was lovely and warm.

I was really impressed with their changing facilities. They had family changing rooms so you didn’t have to split up to get changed. This helped massively as my partner could amuse Freddie whilst I was getting dressed and vice versa.
We decided to treat ourselves to a cocktail after this, the bar was right outside the swimming pool, it would be rude not to!
By the end of the week we were well and truly zonked from all the cycling and swimming but we were so happy with our stay. All of the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. They were incredibly breastfeeding and baby friendly.
We left on the Friday morning, we were so sad to go as we had such an amazing time. We would recommend anyone to go however I would say that between the time of you booking and your holiday to book any activities in advanced. You can book one activity every month to spread the cost out as this ensures that you will be able to do these activities instead of just hoping that there are spaces left!
We loved this holiday so much and we hope to return at some point in the future. Maybe for our honeymoon in 2017, who knows?!
